The Game

I feel sad and anxious
inside my heart today,
for yesterday,
I had chemotherapy.
With the change
of a thought, I could
turn these feelings
into ones of gladness
and happiness.
It’s hard to share
that I have cancer.
A woman’s eyes go blank
and mind softly stirs
to something in her
own life which
frightens her,
to something in her own life which
is similar.
So, I remain sad
and quiet today.
I watch the dogs
roll, nip and gently play.
I feel their worry free
happiness and know
I’m the same, and
that deep within my soul,
Life’s call is for
game.
